1929

Andrew Ross Sorkin

1929 was an interesting read, but I wish it had more of a thesis. It skirts around discussions of the merits of speculatory capitalism, and takes more of a great men focus to the history. It tells a story but lacks analysis.

It’s definitely an informative read, but it failed to leave me with any lingering questions or desire to know more. In the afterword, there’s a mention of the death of the leader of the New York Fed and how, had he lived, maybe the whole panic wouldn’t have happened—why is that in the afterword?!
